Music in the Park In the summer of 2011, we will host our very first music event in the Park. The bluegrass band, Stay Tuned, will perform on Wednesday July 20th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A barbeque dinner with all the fixings will be provided at 6:00pm by Big House BBQ. Dinner costs $10.00 and reservations for the meal are required. Photography in The Park Local photographer and outdoor enthusiast Andy Held is conducting a nature photography class in the park on July 24, 2011. Participants learn how to get good photographs of plants, animals, and natural scenes by learning how to pick good subjects, work with available lighting or flash, properly frame shots, and use depth of field for best effects.More information. Art In The Park Classes Monthly "Art In The Park" events are held at the park. Groups of six to eight gather to create beautiful ink prints using plant material from our homes (not the park!). The classes are led by talented artist, and great teacher, Betz Bernhard. Many thanks to Betz for sharing her knowledge, talent and skills. As adults we don't get many opportunities to unlock our creativity, experimenting with colors, textures and shapes to create something with our own hands that is uniquely beautiful. It is alot of fun and another instance of the Park providing us with the opportunity to put aside our daily routines, our responsities, worries, etc., and instead to be in the moment, soaking up all the beauty around us and creating our own. Again, many thanks to Betz for donating her time and talents. Thanks also to Foundation Vice President, Jim Erckmann and Ranger Mary Welborn for their help in planning the events. If you would be interested in attending an "Art In The Park" event, please contact programs@bridletrails.org Earth Day Stewardship Event Earth Day events are held each year. Work is focused on cleaning up and removing non native plants. Everyone works hard and by the end of the half day event a 40 cubic yard dumpster is full and many native plants are in the ground. Our thanks to all those who participate. Washington State Park Rangers are instrumental in making this event a success. Thanks to Ranger Mary Welborn and Foundation Vice President, Jim Erckmann for planning and leading the event each year. A very special thanks also to Pacific Topsoils, which both donated the dumpster for the plant debris and disposed of the material. Volunteers devour pizza and salad for lunch and we hope they leave feeling good about the work they accomplished and the help they provided. Bridle Trails Park Foundation hosts a number events at the Park thoughout the year. Our largest event is the "Party In The Park". We also host nature walks and stewardship events. For a list of events held at the park, take a look at the Park Calendar. |
