Highland Middle School kids get outside in the park

On Tuesday, July 15th, Bridle Trails Park Foundation hosted 21 incoming Highland Middle School 6th graders from Bellevue School District’s Summer Academy for a fun morning of environmental education. Students examined the ecological role the park plays in our urban community as well as the vital role of volunteers needed to maintain and inform others about our valuable natural spaces. Working with the Park Foundation, BSD teacher Scott Norton also utilized the experience to introduce the use of sensory details in upcoming summer writing. This curriculum enhancement event was organized through connections and efforts to support BSD initiatives by Eastside Pathways. Bridle Trails Park Foundation provided transportation, snacks, lunch, and sent these inquisitive and engaged future stewards of the park away with Bridle Trails Oxygen t-shirts.
