Fall 2020 Fungi Videos with Daniel Winkler

Daniel Winkler is a professional mycologist and owner/operator of Mushroaming, an ecotour company focused on fungi. He leads field trips to Tibet, Bhutan, the Amazon, Pacific Northwest, and other exciting locations. He has been Vice President of the Puget Sound Mycological Society (PSMS) and is very active with the large organization. Daniel has led many, very popular and fun fall mushroom walks in the park for the Foundation. He also initiated fall and spring surveys of mushrooms in the park with PSMS volunteers in 2016.

We worked with Daniel on two different visits to the park to make a series of videos in which he talks about various species - how to identify them, their biology, which are toxic, which are edible, and the important roles that fungi play in forest ecosystems. We shot about 50 short video segments, which we have packaged with a little explanation into ten videos for viewing on our YouTube channel. Please start with the introductory video, and enjoy!
