Schools & Scouts

Our education programs aim to develop good citizens by helping children learn about nature so that they will care about protecting it. All programs are free to community educators. Programs have included activities for classrooms at 11 local schools, as well as after school programs, summer camps, and scout groups. We have several games for groups of school children: web-of life, animal adaptations (with specimens), and plant scavenger hunts. We collaborate with other experts and nonprofits to deliver customized curriculum, including Eastside Audubon Society, the Washington Native Plant Society, and the Lake Washington Saddle Club.

Schools

The Foundation has worked with local schools to develop classroom and field activities in the park and near schools that support specific grade level curricula. Students learn about the plants and animals that inhabit the park, or participate in games and other activities related to the ecology of the park and park stewardship.
